The hall leads to the kitchen, the small room, the bathroom and the living room-sleeping area.
In the full-length mirror, you can see how much you tanned during the day. 🏖️ 😎
Wind jackets and hats fit on the hanger, which resembles the waves of Lake Balaton.

You will find a brief guide on using the stove, microwave, and coffee maker in the information folder in Hungarian and English.
Small room
From the hallway, to the right, is the small room, which, despite its mini size, is comfortably livable.
Furnished with a 90 x 200 cm, 17 cm high mattress, a “full-size” bunk bed (with hypoallergenic pillows and duvets), a two-door wardrobe, a small table, two chairs, and a bedside table, plus room for up to two people.
In the two-door wardrobe, even the maxi summer dresses can hang out and you can stash away the sweaters as well.
There are many ways to relax!
If the beach weather isn’t cooperating, no worries. A few party robber rummies with some snack will brighten up your day or night!
And if work calls, this small room is up for it too. A nice hot chocolate or latte gives a boost until the end of the workday.
The unlimited, broadband internet is not just for work: lie down in bed and watch a good movie on your laptop!
Make the most of the possibilities: the chairs can be stacked, the table top can be folded down, giving a bit more space in the room.
Cool spring or autumn, hot summer – it doesn’t matter! The cooling-heating air conditioner provides a pleasant temperature. The morning sun shines through the east-facing window, but if you don’t want this, you can darken it with blinds and curtains.
We placed reproductions of two paintings in this room. My great-grandfather painted them, I write more about them in another post.
A little plus: we added a reading lamp by the lower bed, we hope you find it useful.
Bathroom
In the bathroom, there’s a washbasin with liquid soap, above it a glass shelf for toiletries, and a large mirror. Here, you can also admire how much you’ve tanned at the beach!
Next to the mirror, there’s a socket for the hairdryer (which you’ll find in the cabinet under the washbasin) or shaver.
The shower tap also functions as a practical shelf.
Turning on the ceiling light will automatically activate the extractor fan.
You can move the towel holder as you like to keep it always within reach. We store a small ladder and a few small items under the boiler.
Above the door, there’s an infrared heater: you’ll appreciate it in spring and autumn! It can be switched on from the outside, so be careful not to turn this on instead of the lights.
In the cabinet under the washbasin, you’ll find spare toilet paper and other cleaning supplies.
Living room
The living room (or main room) can be used in many ways:
- dining room for up to 6 people,
- workspace,
- entertainment area,
- comfortable sleeping place for up to two people.
The room faces west, from the window you can see pine and plane/sycamore trees. With the curtains and blinds, you can create a relaxing darkness and effectively shield against heat (plus incoming rain!). The terrace and sleeping alcove are accessible from here.
The TV is swivelable, so you can watch it from the living room or the sleeping alcove.
If you can work remotely, then here you can combine business with pleasure: with the broadband, unlimited internet access, you can find your daily bread, and then after work (or before?), the Balaton awaits!
Oh, one more thing: you can connect your laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable, so you can also watch movies from the Internet…
Are all restaurants closed in spring and autumn, or you’re budget-conscious? No problem! You can quickly whip up a sumptuous lunch in the well-equipped kitchen, which you can enjoy comfortably in the living room.
The comfortable sofa is perfect for relaxation after a day at the beach or a hike. It’s just the right height for the table.
The simple but practical chairs can be stacked, saving space.
The heating-cooling air conditioner is available from spring to autumn! I’ll let you in on a secret: with the blinds closed during the day, you can work wonders in the summer.
In the information folder, you will find brief information on the use of the air conditioning, TV, etc. in Hungarian and English.
Everything fits into the three-door wardrobe: it has both hanging and shelving sections. There are plenty of hangers to keep your hanging clothes neat. In the mirror, you can check out how good you look after a sporty day!
(The other cupboard in the corner is ours: we keep the spare bedding in it.)
On the wall is a copy of my uncle’s childhood painting, depicting a nearby lakeside scene that looks very different nowadays. Reproductions of my grandfather’s paintings are also on display here; he painted scenes from Balatonberény. I’ll write more about the paintings in another post.
Two decks of French playing cards and one deck of Hungarian playing cards are also available: you can choose from a variety of games, from solitaire to poker to snapszer.
A board game collection can also be found in the chest of drawers: this can be a lifesaver in bad weather! 🙂
Sleeping alcove
From the main room, there is a sleeping alcove with a double bed and a swivelable TV, which you can pull in front of the window or turn towards the main room.
The TV comes with a Direct One Plusz package, you can view the available channels on this link.
At the foot of the bed, there’s a two-drawer bedside table where you can store things, and it also houses the wifi router and set-top box.
Entertainment or comfortable work is aided by high-speed, unlimited internet!
A 160×200 cm double bed ensures a relaxing sleep. The pillows and duvets are made of anti-allergenic material.
We managed to arrange for a small nightstand to fit on both sides, so there is room for your glasses, a phone – and a glass of wine too!
The room faces west, and from the window, you can see the terrace and pine and plane (sycamore) trees. With the blinds and curtains, you can create a relaxing darkness, but if you enjoy waking up to bright sunshine and bird chirping, that’s also possible.
Frequent visitors include squirrels, singing birds, and you might even encounter a magpie.
In the evening, you can enjoy the light of the cozy lanterns.
Reproductions of my great-grandfather’s paintings are displayed on the wall; I write more about them in another post.
A little plus: we added two reading lamps on both sides of the double bed, we hope you find them useful.
Terrace
Building and garden
Nothing special, just a typical retro building. Fortunately, it comes with a good-sized garden where, alongside cars, those who aren’t in the mood for the hustle and bustle of the beach can also find space.
There’s also a sandbox available, as well as a fire place.
After all, you came for Lake Balaton, not for the garden!
The neighborhood has mostly asphalted streets (I apologize for their quality!) and the public lighting is also excellent.
