Pastry café – apartment edition!
People often say there’s nothing going on around Lake Balaton outside the summer season – everything’s closed. And sure, there’s some truth to that… but only if we let it be! With a bit of planning and creativity, we can bring that cosy café vibe to life any time – even in our pyjamas.
There are several large supermarkets in the area that stay open all year round: Tesco and Aldi in Siófok, Lidl on the outskirts, and another Aldi in Szántód.
These places almost always stock frozen pastries – just let them thaw for a bit, pop them in the preheated oven, and you’re halfway there.
While they’re baking, there’s just enough time to make yourself a lovely coffee – maybe using a moka pot, or trying your hand at something more adventurous. And if it doesn’t quite turn out like the picture, never mind – the atmosphere more than makes up for it.
Because even on the sunniest summer morning, it can feel wonderful to start the day slowly: in your pyjamas, with birdsong outside, a fresh coffee in hand, and the smell of warm pastries in the air.
